Having Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) can be very intense and cause exhaustion – maybe you feel like life is getting too hard, or every attempt you make to problem solve fails. BPD symptoms show up in different ways for different people and it affects everyone differently.

It’s important to know there is hope and effective treatment options are available. We can provide you the help you need to get you on your road to recovery. Our BPD team holds onto hope even when you struggle to hold on yourself.

Program Overview

We use a research-driven treatment called Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) which is well known for its ethics and positive outcomes. We will work diligently to support you in individual therapy, skills group therapy and phone coaching. In therapy,  you will have the choice to learn and apply coping skills..

Our DBT program is a voluntary six month treatment offered in-person and virtually for people diagnosed with BPD. You will be offered individual therapy and/or skills group therapy, depending on the needs of your symptoms.

What to Expect

At your first appointment, you will meet your therapist and begin the pre-treatment process. During this stage, you and your therapist will determine if DBT is the right fit and ensure that you have a desire to fully engage in the treatment. The process takes approximately four to six sessions and consists of assessments, developing a relationship with your therapist and learning about the tools and resources that will be used to guide the treatment.

Program Outcomes

When the treatment begins, you and your therapist will focus on addressing the obstacles that get in the way of living a life that is meaningful to you. Since BPD symptoms are largely influenced by emotions, you will explore how you can avoid expressing emotions in ways that interfere with living a fulfilling life and instead, work to reach your goals of living a happier life.

You will also learn how to experience emotions in ways that don’t perpetuate overwhelming feelings and create more problems. In DBT you will develop an awareness of ongoing problematic patterns and learn to apply skills that increase your ability to cope with everyday emotional and interpersonal struggles.

Together, you and your therapist will strive to help you achieve a life that is worth living.
