For ages 18+

The Forensic Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit (FPRU) is a 26-bed unit at Ontario Shores for patients, with or without Disposition Orders from the Ontario Review Board (ORB) who require a secure setting. Members of an interprofessional healthcare team provide recovery-focused treatment, and work with patients to develop and implement individual care plans. The team provides support and assistance in a safe and therapeutic environment as patients move towards a less restrictive environment and ultimately return to the community.

For ages 65 +

The Geriatric Psychiatry Unit is a 25-bed inpatient unit at Ontario Shores that provides specialized services to meet the complex mental health needs of seniors with serious mental illness including individuals who are resistant to treatment. An interprofessional healthcare team provides a range of psychogeriatric resources to address the assessment, diagnostic, treatment and transitional care needs of seniors with complex mental health challenges.

For ages 65+

The Geriatric Mental Health Clinic is for seniors aged 65 and older with a psychiatric concern that is either treatment resistant or complex in nature presenting with one or more of the following: behavioural changes, mood changes, anxiety or psychotic symptoms.

For ages 12-18

In partnership with our patients, Ontario Shores provides specialized recovery focused services. The Adolescent Inpatient Unit is a provincial, tertiary care unit for young people aged 12-18.  Referrals are preferred from inpatient adolescent/pediatric mental health units. Individuals are offered a period of assessment, medication stabilization and/or evidence informed individual, family or group psychotherapeutic treatments focusing on symptom management and improvement of function.

The Concurrent Disorders Service provides assessment, consultation, individual counselling and group therapy to both inpatients and registered outpatients of Ontario Shores with substance related issues.  Patients will have been diagnosed with a moderate to serious, persistent mental health concern and evidence of a co-occurring substance issue with the cognitive capacity to benefit from this specialized program. 

For ages 14-18

The adolescent day treatment program at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores) provides mental health and education services in a local community high school to support students as they transition into a community setting.
